Cyd was raised in Ohio and came to Colorado in her early teens. From the start music
was a big part of her life, beginning with organ at age 5. From there she progressed
to clarinet ("To play in the marching band!") and bassoon ("Because I had big hands").
She has classical training in bassoon, and has played professionally and semi-professionally
for many years as a principal and second in many orchestras, as well as a featured soloist. She currently plays with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. Electric bass is a bit of a departure from the classical music genre she is trained in, but is a welcome branching out of her talents, as is the application of bassoon on jazz literature.
When not playing, she and husband Dave enjoy riding their motorcycles and caring for their cats. |
